QPR revive interest in former transfer target

Queens Park Rangers are thinking of going back in for Peterborough defender Josh Knight.

According to Darren Witcoop, Rangers’ are looking at going back in for Knight after having a bid rejected earlier this month believed to be around £300,000.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth is said to find Knight ‘appealing’ due to his versatility. He worked with Knight when they were together at Wycombe Wanderers in the 20/21 season, when they were relegated from the Championship.

Josh Knight is a 25-year-old centre back but as aforementioned is very versatile, being able to play at right back and in defensive midfield.

He rejoined Peterborough in the summer of 2021 off the back of his season on loan with Wycombe, joining from Leicester City.

In his loan at Wycombe, he made 39 appearances, scoring two goals. At the end of the season he won the Supporters’ Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year.

He had previously been at Peterborough on loan, spending the second half of the 18/19 season and the entirety of 19/20 on loan at the Weston Homes Stadium.

In his second spell at Posh, he’s made 83 appearances to date, scoring two goals.

It wasn’t looking likely that QPR would be bringing anyone in before the deadline, but Ainsworth May feel he needs a bit more depth after a fairly poor start to the season.

They have also been linked with bolstering their attacking options, as they have looked at bringing back Jamal Lowe from Bournemouth on loan, after he spent the second half of last season on loan in London.

Target Uche Ikpeazu looks set to join Wycombe instead of teaming up once again with Ainsworth.
