QPR to pursue fan-favourite of Championship rival ‘if deal is right’

QPR are interested in Sunderland winger Lynden Gooch.

According to Alan Nixon, QPR will only pursue a deal for Gooch ‘if the deal is right’.

QPR are wanting to add to their attacking options after only winning one of their three Championship games.

Gooch has also fallen down the pecking order at the Stadium of Light, only appearing for eight minutes so far this season.

Would Lynden Gooch be a good signing?

Lynden Gooch joined Sunderland in 2012 at the age of 16 from the SCB Academy in the United States, rising through the ranks at the academy through the U18s and U21s right to the first team.

He has also spent some time out on loan, spending the second half of the 14/15 season on loan at Gateshead, and the second half of the 15/16 season on loan at Doncaster Rovers.

The USA international is predominantly a right winger but can also play on the left wing and in central attacking midfield.

QPR do have options in these areas of the field like Chris Willock, Paul Smith, Albert Adomah and Ilias Chair, with the latter being linked with a move away to Championship rivals Leicester City.

They are not going to be directed to sell Chair though, with the Moroccan still having two years left on his contract. It has been previously reported that they would rather sell Willock, due to his contract running out this season, so they would like to recoup any money they can for one of their best players, rather than letting him go on a free.

Rangers’ have been looking at strikers however, with them reportedly looking at former Middlesbrough and Cardiff City striker Uche Ikpeazu
